While the title of this workshop sounds counterintuitive, this hands‑on lab will demonstrate the power of purposeful silence. We’ll set clear agreements, try short, medium, and extended pauses, and build the muscle of noticing—somatic cues, emotions, and the moment when insight begins to surface. You’ll learn simple self‑regulation so you can stay the calmest person in the room, plus a take‑home experiment and success measures for both client and coach. This workshop is designed for ICF practitioners at all levels.

About the speaker:

Dr. Stanley J. Ward is a leadership coach, educator, and consultant who helps leaders navigate complex transitions, strengthen communication, and lead effectively without burning out. With more than twenty years of experience in leadership development, higher education, and organizational consulting, he works frequently with executives, and professionals in mission-driven organizations who are stepping into greater responsibility, managing organizational change, or facing increased demands on their leadership. His approach blends evidence-based research with practical tools leaders can use immediately — grounded in the conviction that the most effective leadership moments often begin with paying close attention.

Stan holds a PhD in Leadership Studies and is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation. He teaches leadership and management at the university level, speaks regularly to professional and leadership organizations, and is the author of *How to Beat Burnout for Yourself, Your Family, and Your Team* and co-editor of *Ethical Leadership: A Primer*. Clients value his ability to combine careful listening with clear insight — helping leaders move forward with confidence and focus.
