SEPTEMBER MONTHLY MEETING

Trust: The Crucial Ingredient of Creating a Respectful Coaching Climate

This presentation is based upon the work of Dr. Brene Brown who is a research professor at The University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work and is known for her work around such topics as vulnerability, courage, and authenticity. In this presentation the participants will deepen their understanding of Trust and the use of Brene's BRAVING check list: Boundaries, Reliability, Accountability, Vault, Integrity, Non-judgement and Generosity through interactive activities. Since Trust - in ourselves and in others-is often diminished in a stressful or face down life/work situation, the ability to point to specific behaviors is more helpful than inflammatory thoughts or statements. The development and sustainment of healthy and trusting relationships is essential to respecting ourselves and creating a respectful coaching climate.

Participants will gain a greater understanding on how and why trust is built incrementally and over time.  There will be exercises that help us identify trust relationships and the specific behaviors that are viewed as trust building in the coaching relationship.  Participants will apply Chales Feltman's definition of Trust to personal and coaching relationships; and, using Dr. Brown's definition of BRAVING we will broaden our understanding of trust building behaviors.

About the Speaker

Jen Mauldin

Jan Mauldin is a Certified Life Coach, she helps individuals achieve clarity and direction during a life transition.  Although a life transition can make us feel as if we are floundering, transitions are also a signal that you have movement... movement to a more purposeful, creative and energetic life.  Jen began her coaching career as a leadershipe coach for a school district and opened her practice in 2013 as a Life Coach serving the Central Texas area.  As someone who has experienced major life transition, including divorce, career changes, caregiving and loss of a loved one, Jen understands the power a life coach can bring to a life transition in terms of deep listening, reflection, validation and accountability.
