Industries across the board are grappling with how to sustain in the current realities. From budget challenges to employee burnout to virtual communication, the organizational load is staggering. Join this panel event to learn how the military, healthcare, higher education, and non-profit leaders from across Texas are leveraging coaching to navigate the current social and economic climate.

Facilitated by ICF San Antonio Past-President, Carissa Gay, MCC, this panel will highlight how leaders can help their teams move from reality to possibility.

    PAnelist bios:

    Dr. Julianne Cenac is the Executive Director of Organizational and Talent Development at UTHealth, where she also serves as the program director for The Leadership Institutes at UTHealth. Recently named to the Forbes Coaches Council, she is a frequent contributor on the subject of leadership to Her 20-year career includes working internationally as a management consultant and corporate learning executive throughout China, Singapore, Europe, India, the Middle East and South Africa. Previously, Dr. Cenac served as assistant vice president at Regent University where she led the Professional and Continuing Education Division and helped launch the institution’s executive education programs internationally. Prior to that role, she served as a senior management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in McLean, Virginia where she led projects in strategy and performance for clients including the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense.

    National Institutes of Health and Department of Justice among others. In addition, she also serves as an executive leadership coach—having worked with hundreds of executives in corporate, nonprofit and government leadership roles including a senator and two heads of state.

    Dr. Cenac earned a PhD in Organizational Leadership and an MBA in Management. She also holds a BA degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Russian Studies from the University of Houston. She is author of the upcoming book Emergence: The Natural Process of Becoming a Leader. Her research interests include leader behavioral repertoire, complexity and leader emergence.

    Brig. Gen. Laura L. Lenderman is the Director of Plans, Programs and Requirements, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. She is responsible for planning and programming a $7.6 billion annual budget that supports 60,000 personnel who recruit, train, and educate United States Air Force Airmen and international partners across 22 bases. She also develops AETC’s inputs to the Program Objective Memorandum, leads AETC Strategic Planning, and manages flying training and technical training operational capability requirements. 

    Brig. Gen. Lenderman graduated from Duke University with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1993. After attending pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi, she served several tours flying the KC-135 Stratotanker at Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota, Fairchild AFB, Washington and Altus AFB, Oklahoma. Her staff assignments include serving as the Chief, Commander’s Action Group and Executive Officer to the Commander, Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, Illinois, Analysis Branch Chief, Joint Staff J-8, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia, and Deputy Director-Military, Strategic Plans, Policy and Logistics, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott AFB, Illinois. She also commanded the 15th Air Mobility Operations Squadron at Travis AFB, California, served as the Vice Commander of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing in Southwest Asia and commanded the 375th Air Mobility Wing at Scott AFB, Illinois. Prior to her current position, Brig. Gen. Lenderman was the commander, 502nd Air Base Wing and Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.

    Steve Sosland is a professional disrupter. Organizations hire or consult with him when they want to renovate their culture based on the core values of their team members. This approach differs from the norm where a small group of senior leaders decide on rallying around values they choose that may or may not fit their employees. Sosland is an alumnus of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Boston University and the University of Texas Dallas. He has used his formal and informal education as an avid reader in five industries including higher education where he currently serves as the Chief People Officer for the Texas Tech University System’s four universities in West Texas and beyond. 

    Kelly Sosland coordinates the nationwide builds for Habitat for Humanity’s Care-a-Vanners group. Steve and Kelly have two daughters. Rachel is a Urologist in Austin, and Bekah is a systems engineer for NASA’s Perseverance Rover that recently landed on Mars. Bekah and Gordon are incredible parents of Milo and Luna. Their love fills his cup.

    Alicyn Yarbrough; CEO | A Glimmer of Hope Alicyn leads Glimmer’s efforts to reduce poverty and build resilience in rural Ethiopian communities. She guides the development and expansion of the organization’s community-led approach that centers around income growth, good health and continuous access to education. Since joining Glimmer in 2010, Alicyn has served in various roles, including overseeing strategy development, program design and fundraising. She spearheaded the effort to revise Glimmer’s theory of change in 2018 to focus on agricultural livelihoods as they key to building long-term resilience in rural Ethiopia. Her deep commitment to the people of Ethiopia drives her focus on deepening and leveraging the strong partnerships and country-wide progress seen since Glimmer was founded in 2000. Alicyn earned a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting from Texas Tech University. She currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her family.
